A.M.E. Church Celebrates 220 Years!

Anderson Chapel Celebrates 43 Years!

By Faith...

T he African Methodist Episcopal Church celebrates 220 years in the field of Kingdom service. Thank God for our founder Bishop Richard Allen, Mother Sarah Allen and those who stood with this Apostle of Freedom to insure that people of African descent and all others who desired to share, would have a place to worship freely and serve the Lord.

Since the time of our humble beginnings in a black smith shop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, God has certainly brought us from a mighty long way. To God be the glory!

Anderson Chapel has been a part of this Connectional Church for 43 years! To God be the glory! He has shown us His mighty power and saving grace throughout the years! Thank God for the founders and those who have been a part of enlarging the territory of the Kingdom for the glory of God! Don’t miss the special 43rd Anniversary Celebration this afternoon @ 3:30 p.m. The guest preacher is Pastor David G. Reynolds of the Greater Vision Community Church in Killeen. Each member is kindly asked to share an Anniversary Offering of $43 with the church during the month of February.

Fellowship Dinner Set for Vision Sunday - February 25th

W e will conclude the month long anniversary activities with a Fellowship Dinner immediately following the morning worship on Vision Sunday, February 25th. The Fellowship Dinner will be held in the Mona Fields Youth Center. In the Old Testament, one of the offerings that the people brought to the tent or temple was a Fellowship Offering. This offering was a communal meal which was shared with the priest and the person bringing the offering. We are looking for the congregation to bring a FELLOWSHIP OFFERING to the house of God to share with the congregation. What is that? I am glad you asked. Now, it is known as a POT LUCK SUPPER! That’s right, it’s time to bring your best dish. Some of you make some awesome macaroni and cheese! Some delicious brisket! Some

mouth watering custard pies! Well, it’s ON! It is time to share with the saints your culinary skills. The price of admission: YOUR BEST DISH! The church will provide the CHICKEN ‘N RINSE! (That’s the BIRD and something to wash it down). The dress for that day is our CHURCH SHIRTS (purple or red). Let’s have a time of FELLOWSHIP! Please see Brother Gregory or Sister Monyon Thomas to sign up for your dish! It’s going to be a DELICIOUS time!

Renovation Fund 2007!

R enovation Fund 2007 is under way! We have already received the first gifts for what has now been designated by the Finance Committee as the Renovation Fund. This fund will only be used for the renovation of our present edifice to the glory of God. The leadership of the church will shortly announce the capital campaign for this effort. In advance of that announcement, we are asking our members to share $20 for 21! What is that? Based upon initial estimates, if each member gives an extra $20 per week for one year, we will have enough funds to renovate this building without need for any financing! Many have begun and the fund continues to grow! Please mark renovation in the section marked other on the regular pew envelope and your gifts will be earmarked for that fund. Look for updates regularly. In the first quarter of 2007, the Trustee Ministry will present to us some viable opportunities to renovate our present facilities. The season has changed!

Worship & The Word

The study for the month of February in Worship & the Word is Excellence in Stewardship! The series began on Wednesday, February 7th and concludes on February 28th. There will be no service held this week - Wednesday, February 14, 2007! Everyone is encouraged to attend the Founder’s Day Special Richard Allen Event in Waco. The Ash Wednesday service is scheduled for Wednesday February 21st @ 7:00 p.m.

From the Pastor’s Heart

I n the month of February the preaching emphasis will be on the second goal of our vision statement: Total-Tithing! Although that has to do with our financial resources, stewardship is more than just money! We trust that you blessed by last Sundays’ sermon: Its’ Harvest Time! Have you put some seed into the ground? Are you expecting an abundant harvest to be returned for that seed? I am praying for your healing, health and wholeness as you enter 2007!
